And so it begins!

Hey everyone, very excited to get this underway!  Enjoyed the video Patrick and reading other peoples' blog posts definitely added to my enthusiasm.

I live in Western New Jersey - the Garden State part of New Jersey, Hunterdon County where all the tomatoes and peaches come from - and work in Manhattan.....and Toronto.  I work in Foreign Exchange for American Express and was asked at the end of last year to launch a business in Canada while continuing with my US-based responsibilities.  So for the next two years I get on a plane to Toronto on Tuesday morning and return Thursday evening.  This has definitely put a burden on my efforts to lose weight and I went into this role in poor shape to begin with.

In truth, I have been trying to focus on my health a few years now but other priorities have gotten in the way.  I have 3 kids ages 10, 7 and 5 and between work and kids I have been exercising less and less with each year and eating far worse as I rush from meeting to meeting or kid event to kid event.  However, the "You do this on this day" format of the Foundation is great for me as I am very goal oriented and live my life by my to do list!

As I mentioned above, the main things that have kept me from losing weight and living healthy have been making it a priority amongst my other priorities.   Well....that and the fact that I eat terribly.

Very excited to get going, very glad to be a part of the program!

Glad to have you Brett! Your work and family life has provided you ironclad excuses for years. No one can blame you with kids that age and that commuting schedule.

So as I have whined about incessantly, I travel a lot for work which means that I am subject to the volatile gods of restaurant food. Now.....I think I am doing OK with this - I just had a nice vegetable curry and threw out about half of it and I feel nicely full - but the scale tomorrow morning will be the judge of that.
